Hip-Hop Studies and Etudes are short musical vignettes demonstrating various aspects of hip-hop music that were initially written for students at the Harlem School of the Arts when Daniel Bernard Roumain (DBR) served as chair of the Music Theory and Composition Department. DBR’s model for Hip-Hop Studies and Etudes were Bach’s Well-Tempered Klavier and Philip Glass’ Music in 12 Parts.
