A common chase is an opening to the outside in the inner wall of a building, through which diverse pipes and wires exit; and also: a foxhunt, a run of police after hoodlums, a chaser after brandy, a caccia, a 14th century poetic and musical form on a hunting text in which one voice chases another, using the same melody, at a distance of eight or so measures.
