Subito Music Announces Partnership with the Minnesota Orchestra Composer Institute

Tuesday, November 22, 2011, Verona, New Jersey Subito Music Corporation (SMC) is pleased to announce its new Subito Composer Fellowship, a young composer program developed and launched in partnership with the acclaimed Minnesota Orchestra Composer Institute. The Subito Composer Fellowship is a one-year publisher's mentoring program and will be awarded to one of this season's 2012 Composer Institute Fellows. The fellowship will provide professional promotional efforts for the composer's Institute-featured orchestral work, along with the opportunity to cultivate a working knowledge of today's classical music publishing industry with on-site, hands-on training.

"We are honored to partner with the Minnesota Orchestra Composer Institute in offering this new opportunity for emerging composers," shares Stephen Culbertson, SMC's founder and CEO. Aaron Jay Kernis -- Composer Institute Director -- adds "The Minnesota Orchestra and I warmly welcome Subito Music Corporation's new involvement with the Institute. Their enthusiasm to discover, educate and advocate for the next generation of orchestral composers fits ideally with this important program's mission."

Culbertson continues, "This season, the Composer Institute enters its 11th year under founder Aaron Jay Kernis' direction, and we're delighted to participate in this highly regarded program as it continues to lead in professional development for young symphonic composers. Each participant's experience will culminate in hearing and seeing Osmo Vänskä conduct their work in the Minnesota Orchestra's Future Classics concert which will also be broadcast-a major stepping-stone in a young symphonic composer's career. The Subito Composer Fellowship will compliment and further the Institute's achievements and dedication to the contemporary orchestral voices of today and tomorrow."

The Minnesota Orchestra Composer Institute - co-presented each season by the Minnesota Orchestra and American Composers Forum - provides the opportunity for emerging symphonic composers from across the nation to participate in an intensive immersion into the world of a major American symphony orchestra. The Composer Institute is unique in the nation in its combination of orchestral rehearsals, public performance, and numerous targeted workshops and seminars with leading music industry professionals on musical, career, business and professional development issues. The Institute nurtures the participants' musical acumen and broadens their career management skills, assisting in their growth as artists and community leaders. This season, the Composer Institute runs from January 2 - 7, 2012, highlighted by the sixth annual Future Classics concert of works by this year's six featured composers, conducted by Osmo Vänskä on Friday, January 6.
