April 22, 2005 , Verona, New Jersey - Subito Music Publishing welcomes celebrated stage and concert music composer Deborah Drattell to its roster of exclusive artists.

Deborah Drattell's one-act opera The Festival of Regrets with a libretto by acclaimed playwright, Wendy Wasserstein and premiered at Glimmerglass Opera in 1999, was subsequently staged at New York City Opera as part of the Central Park Trilogy, and was broadcast nationally on Great Performances that same year. Shortly after the success of Glimmerglass_ concert presentation of her first full-length opera, Lilith, the work was stage-premiered at the New York City Opera during the Fall of 2001.

Her contributions to the concert repertoire include Fire Dances for clarinetist David Shifrin, Sorrow is not Melancholy for string orchestra, a flute concerto for Ransom Wilson entitled The Fire Within, and Alone for soprano Lauren Flanigan and the Mosaic String Quartet. Her orchestra music has been performed internationally by the New York Philharmonic, the Pittsburgh, Seattle, Denver, Oregon Symphonies and the Israel Chamber Orchestra, among others.

Following the sold-out Los Angeles Opera production of her recent grand opera Nicholas and Alexandra, with a libretto by Nicholas von Hoffman and starring Placido Domingo as Rasputin, she finished her newest stage collaboration with Wendy Wasserstein, titled Best Friends, a satire on present day New York high society in the arts. In addition, her chamber opera Marina, to a libretto by poet Annie Finch and based on the life of Russian poet Marina Tsvetaeva, was stage premiered by American Opera Projects at the Off-Broadway DR2 Theatre.

Ms. Drattell's official posts have included Composer-in-Residence at New York City Opera, Denver Symphony, and the Glimmerglass Opera. The recipient of numerous prestigious awards and grants, Ms. Drattell was born in Brooklyn, N.Y. and holds a Ph.D. from the University of Chicago.
