FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

February 1, 2005, Verona, New Jersey - Notevole Music Publishing welcomes noted stage and concert music composer Susan Kander to its roster of distinguished artists.

Following her graduation from Harvard University with a degree in music, Susan Kander pursued a career as a playwright, writing for a host of successful off-broadway, regional stage, and television productions. The composer grew up saturated with musical theater, both osmotically, through the direct influence of her uncle, John Kander, and through her self-imposed immersion in all aspects of theater during her student years. On the heels of her celebrated contributions to the stage, Kander expanded her compositional activities to include a steady stream of compelling and original chamber, choral and orchestral music. Kander explains: “ I still consider myself a dramatist first and foremost, but now with melody, instrumental color, texture and rhythm instead of words, stage directions, costumes and sets. Whether the form is vocal, choral, small ensemble or orchestral, for me it’s about giving the listener a dramatic experience, a going from here to there.” The composer’s growing catalog of chamber music includes recent commissions and performances in New York, Pittsburgh, Kansas City, Lake George and St. Petersburg, Russia.
