SNEAK PEAK – DBR “Far But Close” on Subito YouTube Channel
After an eight-year hiatus and a much-anticipated return, on April 10, the newly re-launched Dance Theatre of Harlem takes center stage at Jazz at Lincoln Center’s Rose Hall to offer an eclectic mix of familiar and new works, including the New York premiere of Daniel Bernard Roumain’s (DBR) new dance piece “Far But Close.”
“Far But Close” is a collaborative project that offers a new way of looking at how the language of ballet can be used to tell a story. With choreography by John Alleyne, and featuring spoken text by playwright Daniel Beaty, DBR’s soulful, rhythmic score propels the action forward in this powerful, contemporary story of the healing power of romantic love.
